Hello there, I hope someone can point me in the right direction:

I would like to make an app that scan a barcode, preferably a QR-Code, then retrieve the stock quantity and product details, so I can have an excel file in my one drive with Product, Description, Quantity, Value, etc.

is this possible?

thanks in advance for any response,

Regards

    Hi @sajarac,

Please follow the article below to work with the Barcode control in PowerApps:

Create a barcode scanning app in minutes!

The control reference, specially for the known limitations:

Scan a barcode in Microsoft PowerApps

Barcode control will only get the code number from the Barcode, if you would like to get the corresponding details of the product, you should connect to the related coding center API (If available) to get it.

Besides, scan for QR-Code is currently not available, and there is an idea submitted on this:

    QR-code scanning

Please vote it up if you would like this feature to be added in future release of PowerApps.

    Regards,

    Michael

Thank you very much for your prompt reply, I am currently stuck at this point:

I was able to create the barcode scan and also create some "code128" labels, the app read the description without any issue and show it in the text field. so I would like to have this connected with my excel file in onedrive that file has the current inventory list with description, unit of masure and most important quantity. so once the app scan the barcode I would like to retrieve how many unit are in stock.  BTW I update manuallly the excel file with quantities, references etc.

I don't know exactly what is the next step? should I add a gallery?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Regards

    Good afternoon.

I am looking to achieve almost exactly the same thing and wondered if you had managed to resolve your issue?

    Regards,

Hi, you mean the QR Code?

If so, I guess QR code still in the MS list of ToDO's, but I was able to achieve this but using Barcode EAN128.

    Hi,

That is almost exactly what I want to do.

I need for an inexperienced team member to be able to scan the barcode on a product and have the product description, Part Number, price and picture pull through from a spreadsheet which I will keep offline in a dropbox folder.

However, I have no idea how to create an app and the provider of our IT system are being particularly unhelpful to me!

I've searched long and hard through available apps and while I can find plenty that will point to a web search, I am struggling to find something that does what I need.

I even went as far as downloading Android Studio and a load of other things in an attempt to write something myself. Quickly realised that I have no hope in hell 🙂

This is a completely cheeky question and I totally understand if you tell me to get stuffed but would you consider sharing what you produced with me please? As I said, I know that this is totally cheeky and am fully expecting you to say know but I'm struggling to get this off the ground and I know it would help boost the confidence of newbies at work (not to mention reduce error rates!)

    Rachel

    No worries, I will help

    1. Do you have your data in an excel file in shared in one drive?

    2. Your coworkers will use an iPad or a phone? or a PC

    3. When your cookers are using the app they have access to wifi all of the time?

Woman LOL wow thank you! I so appreciate this!

    1. Do you have your data in an excel file in shared in one drive? Yes

    2. Your coorworkers will use an iPad or a phone? or a PC We are expecting it to be mobile phone or tablet, either IOS or Android

    3. When your coorkers are using the app they have access to wifi all of the time? Yes

I'd love to be able to use this as a base for learning to do more exciting things with the app but at first, if I can get the few things displayed that would be great. In time, it would be brilliant for non identified barcodes to return an error message with the option to take a photo of the item and send it to the administrators so that the item can be added at some point.

But let's not run before I can walk!!

OK. A couple of things here.

    1. Please consider use Share point list for your data. when I started all my apps were in excel because it was easier, but I had to move one by one to a share point list. it's worth it you'll have fewer problems in the future and if you want integrated microsoft flow it works better too.

So please send me a Private Message with your email address, I will send you a copy of my APP along with a copy of the excel. BTW Can you create barcodes? if not I will send you a link for this website to create barcodes I did it and works witout any issue.

We are looking for help on a PowerApp for scanning barcodes. I was trying to just use Excel for this but they need something for iPad/Tablet use. They are a moving and storage company. What they need is when onsite at the customers location they will scan the barcodes for the items they are putting on the truck. If they scan something twice they want duplicates removed and the barcodes sorted lowest to smallest number.  A total of barcodes scan at the end. Then they bring the items to their warehouse and put them in a room. They want to track the room number with all the items. Then when they are ready to take them out of the warehouse they want to scan the barcodes again and match up what they already had scanned onsite and know if they missed any items. Hope this makes sense.

Right now I have an Excel spreadsheet with macros, control buttons to run the macros, conditional formatting, etc. But of course this won't work with iPads/tablets using Office 365.

Is there anyone that could help us with this? I have not worked with PowerApp before. Thank you so much!  JoLynn

    Hey @RachelMoore

I'm not sure if you're still looking into this, but I was able to get Sharepoint to automatically generate Code39 barcodes for any new items in a SharePoint list - my reply is within this thread:

If you still have any questions about this or want to know how I implemented it please feel free to ask,
