How do I prevent users going into the sharepoint list directly and editing items that do not belong to them?

Hi,

I have given "contribute" access to users which means users can "Can view, add, update" items.

How do I prevent them going into the sharepoint list directly and editing items that do not belong to them?

I prefer them not editing the sharepoint list directly at all.

In power apps i am able to make it so they can only view items that belong to them.

Thanks.

    Hi, @wonka1234 ,

    @Amik has given you a bunch of workarounds. The easiest is to adjust the SharePoint list settings (Advanced). You can choose to allow the user to Read All or only items that were created by the user.

    Please let me know if this helps, thanks!

    @wonka1234 ,

    Firstly, you can give them a customer permission level in SharePoint based on Contribute, but with View Application Pages disabled - that way they cannot access any SharePoint views, but can still write from Power Apps.

    If you want them to only operate on their own records in SharePoint, this blog of mine may give you a pathway to achieving this. Essentially you can restrict the user to an integrated app, in which you can make the controls in View Mode for everything other than records created by them.
