Dynamics 365 New Look Custom Chart Colors Ignored

In Dynamics 365 I have a custom line chart with specific line colors set using the chart XML file.  The colors render correctly in the "old look".  When I turn on the "new look", the custom XML is being ignored and the colors render as the default colors.  Does anyone know how to fix this?

    I was having a similar issue and FINALLY found this Microsoft article (Modern, refreshed look for model-driven apps - Power Apps | Microsoft Learn) and was able to successfully override the colors in the new look on my chart when putting the new tag  CustomColorOverride="true" within the XML Chart tag. 
    Example:
    <Chart CustomColorOverride="true" Palette="None" PaletteCustomColors="red; orange; green; ">
