PowerApps Incompatible Type Error

Hi, I have PowerApps gallery and approval form. I have set a variable on gallery to navigate to form. On approval screen I have Edit and View form and Approve, Reject and Sent Back Buttons. At many places in form I have used the variable which is set on gallery next arrow 'on select' property. My code works fine. But after sometime it gives me incompatible type error. When I change the variable name again it works fine. But this I have to do repeatedly.

    Can anybody tells me how to get rid of it. In advance, thanks for your support.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

    Use your Search and see where you use the Variable - the most likely culprit is that you have used it somewhere else and set it to a different data type.

    Hi @WarrenBelz ,

    Thanks for your reply. I have duplicated the form and gallery and changed the variable name. And yes, I have enabled the search and searched for the variable but it is not used anywhere else.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

    That is the only culprit I am aware of (and it makes sense - that is the error message) and have experienced before. What is the code (in Text please) that you run when you get the error. Also when you View > Variables what data type does it show ?

    I have set global variable,  for eg. Set(VarApprovalRequest, ThisItem). Data type shows as record. When I change this global variable name then it will not show error for some time.

    @Anonymous ,

    I will give you another hint here - I always have Global variable prefixed with gbl (so it would be gblApprovalRequest) and context Variables with var. You can have context and Global Variables with the same name - when this happens, the Context variable takes precedent on the screen it belongs to and if it is of a different type, you will of course get an error when you try to refer to (what you thought was) the global variable on the relevant screen.

    I have tried this also but still my issue is not resolved.

    @Anonymous ,

    If this is the only reference to varApprovalRequest setting it

    Set(VarApprovalRequest, ThisItem)

    then how/when are you using it ? The incompatible type could be the "other side" - comparing it with something that is not a record (which was why I asked for the code when you get the error).
