Preview a form entry, before committing.

Hello all,

I have a simple FORM that I want to allow users to preview (single gallery item) in the way existing data is already displayed elsewhere in the app, prior to committing to a Sharepoint list.  Is there a way to accomplish this, even with a temporary (in app preferably) table, that can then be pushed to said list?

I've thought and attempted to use a gallery collection, but as the FORM entries aren't stored anywhere except for memory/cache on the screen, this doesn't work.

I'm thinking that if I made every field in the FORM a variable and then pre-combined or updated a column (is this even possible?) one at a time in the Sharepoint list, but that would be extremely tedious.

( Edits, including some pics from WIP for us visual thinkers 🙂 )

Sample existing data gallery item I want to replicate in a preview for a new FORM entry:

Entry / Display screen for "new" - you can see the "error" section from me fiddling with the gallery (right side of screen has the action buttons for preview, save etc..:

You can record the fields from the form into variables, then show those to the user before writing to the SP list. You would then just Patch() the variables to the SP list. It can be tedious, especially if there are many fields. If you save the fields to a collection you can then Patch() the collection to your SP list. If you set up the collection with IDENTICAL column names you can use Collect(SP List,Collection) and that will write all the data to the SP list from the collection. But the 2 lists must be identical excluding the extra columns the SP adds on it's own. That is usually less typing.

@BrianS, ouch, I guess the tedious way is the only way, somewhat thankfully the form, this time, is small. Is there a quick way to build a COLLECTION "structure"/template from a FORM or Sharepoint list? As I find other folks out there are visual thinkers (I'm that way) I've tossed in some pics from my WIP for what I am trying to do.

I do not know of a quick way. You can copy/paste the field names to make sure they are identical. That functionality would definitely not be part of the "No Code" dev that they talk about 😉

I usually go with the Collection version - it just seems like less typing to me - you avoid all the extra {""} stuff.

I did not see any images with your post
