Related Tables Not Connecting

I have two related tables in Dataverse, Table1 and Table2. I created a view in Table2 that filters based on "contains data" in ColumnC in Table1. When I look at ColumnC in Table1, it contains data in a number of records. But when I select the view in Table2 that is filtering for ColumC in Table1, it is not showing the same records.

It was working fine when I set it up last night, then I try to run it today, and it is not working.

Any insight would be helpful. Thank you.

    Hi @powerwood,

    Did you publish your customizations after saving the view?

    Hi @ChrisPiasecki , yes I did publish the customizations. When I am in the view editor, the proper data is not even showing there.

    Hi @powerwood,

    Could you clarify what is meant by the proper data not showing up? Are certain columns missing, or something else? Some screenshots would be helpful.

    @ChrisPiasecki ,

    Thanks for digging deeper on this one. Here is a screenshot of the data from Table1. The column on the right is what I am calling "ColumnC".

    Here is a screenshot of the View editor for Table 2:

    To bring this example into the real world, let me rename the example tables and columns.

    Table1 = Bids

    Table2 = Change Orders

    ColumnC = Active Job Number

    Each Change Order record includes a Job Number. The view under Change Orders is filters if "Active Job Number" in Bids contains data.  The view is only showing records for some of the Active Jobs, not all of them.

    Hi @powerwood,

    Is it just in the view designer where you are seeing only a subset of expected records? What about if you try viewing it from the Advanced Find or from a Model-Driven app? Do you see the same behavior? Also, can you confirm if there are no other filters such as status = 'Active', and that any of those records you are expecting to see aren't in an 'Inactive' status?

    I only see a subset of expected records when I look at "Active Jobs" view in the data tab in Dataverse. Also, when I access the data via PowerApps (canvas app) it is a subset. Not to mention, in each of these places, the subset is not consistent. In PowerApps, I see a smaller portion of records than in the data tab, but just slightly.

    All the records are set to Active, nothing is "Inactive".

    @ChrisPiasecki Something funky is happening with the data. When I download it to Excel, it's all there, but when I try to access it in Dataverse or Powerapps, it is truncated.

    Hi @powerwood,

    The view designer in the maker portal might only be showing a limited number of records as a way to preview the view for you. Can you confirm if the number of records that show up in Advanced Find using the view align with your expectations? One way to get to advanced find is to select the gear in top right of maker portal > Advanced Settings. It will open up the legacy Dynamics 365 interface, and you can click the Hourglass looking icon near the top right. Select your record type and then the view you created and run the query. If you have less than 5,000 records, then it will show the total # of records that show up in that view.

    With regards to your Canvas app, you might need to refresh your CDS Data Source to see up to date info (hover over the table in the data source section > 3 ellipses > Refresh).

    Hi @ChrisPiasecki ,

    There seems to be something funky happening with the column that I chose to use as a filter. I am able to find a way around it, which will likely make things more stable. Thank you for your help in thinking through this with me.
