HELP! App stopped working, won't open in Play mode!

Hi all! 

I was working on my app today. Fiddled around with a component in my library, published it. Imported and published my app. App now won't open either on web or on mobile. 

 

Tried deleting cache, using different browser. Tried rolling both back to last Friday. Tried saving as different app. Issue still persists. Nothing recorded in Monitor. 

 

No issues in Edit mode.

EDIT: Tried removing code from App.OnStart and Home.OnVisible. Problem still persists.

    Hello @Chris-D 

     

    Do you have anything in your onstart event ? or on the onvisible of your first screen ? Because if something wrong is happening in either of those event it can lead to this message.

    Hi, thanks for the reply. 

     

    Yes there is code in OnStart and OnVisible on the home page. It's not changed in ages, but I tried commenting this out anyway. Problem still persists.

    Allright then can you open developer tools and hit the refresh button and check the console/network tab to see what is logged there ?

    Hi @Chris-D 

    I'd check the app authoring version to see if that makes a difference.

    If the app authoring version of the component library is higher than that of your app, I'd adjust the authoring version of the app to see if that helps.

     

    Apart from that, it seems like you've done everything possible to diagnose this so at this point, I reckon the best thing to do would be to raise a support ticket with Microsoft.

    @alaabitar ,

     

    I'm getting a failure on the console. The 404 corresponds directly (as far as I can tell) with the point at which I get the fail screen. I don't know what to do with this though? 

    EDIT: I get this same console error on working apps so I don't think that's the issue.

    Thanks for the suggestion. Both are 3.23113.20. 

     

    How quick are MS at responding? I need this app. Wouldn't take toooo long to copy & paste everything into a new app, just very annoying to have to do so.

    @timl I take back my previous reply to you. Apparently when you copy & paste components it creates a copy in app rather than referencing the originals so I would have to replace and recreate literally everything. 

     

    How do I log with MS? 

     

    Also, on Friday I happened to download the app using the Download a Copy function, can I do anything with this by way of restoring it?

    Hi @Chris-D 

    From my experience, MS are usually quick to make an initial reply. Then their response time depends on the complexity of the issue.
    When I had similar issues, they asked me to send the trace from the browser developer tools and they used that to diagnose the problem.

    You can raise a support ticket by clicking the 'Create support ticket' button on the following page.

    In terms of opening a downloaded file, you can use the 'open' menu item. I added some screenshots in your other post.

    I'm posting this just for completeness in case anybody else comes across this thread. 

     

    Having rolled my app back using an older exported copy, and the component library to Friday, I was back up and running. 

     

    I repeated the changes I'd made to my component (I was only working on one of them at the time). Imported the library again. 

     

    App failed again! 

     

    Luckily there were only 3 of these components in my app since I was still developing it. I deleted the components and app worked again. Added the components back, still working. 

     

    Something was failing updating the component within the app, but there were never any errors.
