Advice: Setup of dataverse table with sharepoint list data from existing power app

I have a power app for which there is a Sharepoint list of employees.  No delegation issues here as never going to get above 2000 records.

 

I need to create a new table that will track absences.  I don't want to have delegation issues with this so my thinking is to have a button you click on the employee record to say I need to create a new absence record for this employee.

 

This should take the user to a new canvas and pre-populate the employee number and name into a new dataverse table which will then have it's own gallery, edit form etc.

 

Thoughts, hints, advice appreciated.
