Gallery controls within form do not reset

Hello, I am having trouble resetting the controls within a form when a new form is created and when an existing form record is opened.  In either case, the last checked checkbox records are still in place when the form opens.  I have tried numerous attempts to remove the checks when starting a new form or to reset the correct checks from the existing record unsuccessfully.  My scenario is that I have placed a checkbox within a gallery within a form control to display the choices of a SharePoint list choice column.

Below are images of the button control that opens a new form, the button control that opens and existing record, the latest attempt to reset using the button control that submits the record, and an image of the error that displays when submitting the form with this newest submit button formula.

How can I clear these checkboxes when a new form is opened and correctly populate the checkboxes when the existing record is

called?  Thanks for your consideration!

    Hi @Tymlss ,

    Set the Reset property of the checkbox to a Variable and the set the Variable to false and then back to true

    Thank you for your response.  The checkbox control for Teams does not have a reset property, so I used the "Checked" property instead, which is where I placed the variable name.   I created a button that will be set to invisible and used "UpdateContext" to toggle the variable from false to true, as was described above.  Then, on the form submit button, I set the formula to "Select" the reset button.  This worked!  I still am having trouble repopulating the checkboxes when an existing record is called.  Any thoughts?  See pics below.

    Button to call an existing record from SharePoint.  I am having trouble repopulating the checkboxes from that record.

    @Tymlss ,

    One of the many reasons I have not switched to Modern controls yet is their current lack of facilities compared with Classic. They have separate Default and Reset properties which will do what you need here. You might consider switching to a Classic control for this one.

    Thank you so much for your help!  I'm using MS PowerApps for Teams.  The modern checkbox and the classic checkbox both do not have reset and default properties.  Instead, there is a "checked" property, this appears to replace both of these properties..?

    Setting the variable above helped initially, but did not resolve my additional issue of collecting the item information from me data source.  So, I went through and all steps and discovered that I was inadequately referencing the default values of the checkboxes.  I needed to reference the collection associated with that gallery, and not just the value.  Now, even the reset variable is not needed.  See Below.  Thanks again!

    "ThisItem.Value" was updated to "ThisItem.Value in colCategoryData4.Value"
