PowerPlatform Teams / Groups Availability When Offline

Hi

Does anyone know if you can check if the current user is a member of a PowerPlatform Team / Group (NOT a member of a Microsoft Teams) when the Canvas App is offline ?

I thought you could and I have seen articles eg Thomasz Poszytek April 21st 2024. saying you can.

But I have not been able to get this to work :-
 IsBlank(
            Filter(
                Office365Groups.ListGroupMembers("9f5872d7-aa62-49ba-ae76-1540407ec703").value,
                mail = User().Email
            )
        )

I have performed the following Tasks -
  1. Put an app and tables in a solution,
  2. Configure tables to allow them to work in offline mode,
  3. Grant security roles to users,
  4. Create a mobile offline profile, and configure it.

Thanks

Nigel

    Did you follow all of the steps outlined?

    Is the only problem that you are experiencing the inability to make that call? I don't believe that his approach addresses that requirement, It seem to just make it easier to configure users for offline access. The offline concept requires that only information that you have access to can be cached.
    What security check are you making?

    Hi

    I followed al of the steps.

    The issue is the call to Office365Groups.ListGroupMembers which does not work if you are offline.

    The call works if you are online.

    What security checks do you have in mind?

    Regards

    This call Office365Groups.ListGroupMembers is not going to work offline.
    Why do you need it? How are you using it?
    I asked if you are trying to use it for some type of security check.

    Users are allocated to security groups which in turn gives them things they can do and cannot do.

    So when the user loads the App when offline the APP still needs to work out which group the user is a member of and therefore determine what the user can and cannot do ie. some sort of Role Based Access Control.

    We are looking at over 3,500 users who, could, potentially access the APP whilst not connected to the Internet. We are looking at 6 security groups the user could, potentially be a member of.

    I hope this answers your questions.

    Regards

    You have to store the roles in variables so that they can be checked when offline.
    You cannot make that call when offline.
    If the user does not have a role stored then you should restrict access until they go back online.
