People picker only searching by email

Hi all,

I am working on a power app for our managers to assign tasks out to specific employees. I have this setup by having a Sharepoint list as the backend with a person column to choose who to assign the task to. In the Sharepoint list settings, I went to the settings for the person column and made it so we can only select from the group called "FLS" (to prevent accidental tagging of users outside this group). After making this change, whenever I try to add a new item to the list through either the form on the Sharepoint list directly or through the power app itself that I can only find the employees by typing out their first name and then a period (see below). Our organization's email addresses are in the format of firstname.lastname@org, so I'm assuming it is only searching by their email addresses. Is there a way I can fix this so that our managers can assign tasks out by starting to type the name out without having to begin typing out the full email? My last screenshot is a combobox that I have in the power app to choose the employee. When I allowed all users to be selectable, the combobox would show all employees upon clicking the dropdown. With the restricted group, nothing populates at all with the dropdown and users can only be found by searching. If there's a way that I could get these users to populate in the dropdown, that would be even better.

Thank you in advance for any help!

    Hi @kzcarlisle ,

It seems you have found a Power Apps restriction with that SharePoint option as if you look further down in the list setting you posted, it restricts you to either name or email. If you look at the second part of this thread, there is a possible workaround, but it is a complex path to go to test if it solves your issue.

There is an easier option is using an Office365Group - this thread would be a good start on that.

Please click Accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue. This will help others find it more readily. It also closes the item. If the content was useful in other ways, please consider giving it Thumbs Up.
