How to mention or tag users in Model-Driven Power App?

Hello Community,

In the Model-Driven Power App in Dataverse (without any Dynamics 365 apps), is there a way we can "mention" or "tag" other system users? Since the Post on Timeline feature requires a Dynamics 365 app, is there another way to allow system users to communicate with each other using mention or tag in the Model-Driven Power App?

Any insights would be appreciated.

Thank you!

despite being a system admin and setting all the required settings the @@mention feature is not working. I would have expected in a note timeline to write @hu and be presented with choices for people but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong. Sharing is enabled plus in-app notifications. I can see when other people are in the same form so sharing is working but not the @@mention. Help please

    Hi,

Did you manage to correct the problem ? I’m in the same situation as you, I’ve tried everything (environment in USA or Canada, interface in English or French, etc.) and it still doesn’t work. Am I missing something ?

Hello. Has anyone been able to make this feature work? If so, is there something you may have changed or are you using a specific Dynamics 365?

In our model-driven app, a system admin can @ mention another user, but despite others having all the settings mentioned in the link below, they cannot tag someone in a Note.

(Send in-app notifications within model-driven apps - Power Apps | Microsoft Learn)

Is there proof that tagging in a Note works? We opened a ticket 6 weeks ago with Microsoft Support and so far a solution has not been found.

Please note that while troubleshooting a completely new environment was set up and the Enable Dynamics 365 apps was set to Yes. Same results. A system admin or system customizer can tag, but not a regular user with the permissions that are specified in the documentation.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Were you able to resolve the issue?

Same for me. Everything is enabled but @username is not prompting a username dropdown.

No, it’s still not working. I do think it’s a tenant setting though. I had an interview for a role where I had to build a model driven app and the @ mention worked fine. Can’t find any documentation on this though

Allow me to offer some perspective!

We had this working on the default environment in a custom app from summer 2023 until 4/17. The way we did this was by going through their guide like i am reading above, and from that point on contacting support to do the rest. There used to be a statement in the config guides that stated to do so in order to turn this on. From there, i had to write a really complicated power automate feature to grab the guid of the tagged user from the comment and generate an email.

I have since submitted a ticket with Microsoft to address the issue, and am now being directed to purchase one of a handful of apps to re enable this feature.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi @fareehashaikh,
    Thank you for your reply.

We do not have a solution yet, but I will post as soon as some headway is made.

    Hi @benjamin585

Thank you for your reply. It is very helpful. Just to confirm, you were able to have regular users "@mention" others, but only by using a Power Automate flow? You mentioned "email" and was also wondering when a user mentioned others, did it send an email to the person mentioned, or was it in in-app notification?

    Thank you again.
