Authenticate embedded canvas app using a guest AD user

Hi All 

 

I've got a question regarding authentication for an embedded canvas app. I'm not an AD expert so apologies if this is a nonsense idea.

 

Is it possible to use a guest AD user to authenticate an embedded canvas app in a portal page. A user logged into a portal that has an embedded app in a page would somehow use this guest AD user to access the app. The guest AD user would be used by all portal users to access the embedded app. This would negate the need for each logged in contact to have an AD user in order to access the embedded canvas app

    Hi @paulinolan 

     

    FYI. Once the powerapps canvas app is embedded in the portal. The portal will take logged in user details to authenticate the embedded canvas app. 

    So you cannot spilt the users as this is an embedded scenario.  Also what you are trying to do will defeat the purpose of capturing the Audit mechanism. Every user must have an Azure AD guest user login. 

     

    Additional: by default, you can allow guest users to access your canvas app
