Suggest on Environment Type

Hi All,

I am going to start a Power Apps project. We have few developers working on it. It will be a Canvas based app, Dataverse as data store. Do I need to create one environment for each developer? or is it possible for all developers to work on one environment? If one environment per developer is required, I would like to know which environment type I need to provision for each developer? Sandbox or Developer environment? Please suggest.

Regards

Anjan

    Hello @AnjanChidige,

I would suggest creating one sandbox environment to develop your solution. I would not use a Developer environment in your case, because it is linked to the person that created it.

Creating an environment per developer would result in quite complex application lifecycle management, I would not recommend this approach in your case.

Thanks @joe_hannes_col for the response. In which scenarios, we would need multiple Sandbox environments in an project?

    Thanks

    Hello @AnjanChidige,

You could use multiple environments if you have test environments, for example, or if you create a complex solution that is madew up of multiple segmented solutions.

@joe_hannes_col , Sandbox vs Developer environments,

    1. Sandbox consumes tenant level Dataverse capacity, but Developer environment doesn't.
    2. Sandbox users needs to have license to use it, but Developer env doesn't need

So can companies take advantage of using Developer environments to save money for commercial application developments?

    Regards

    Anjan
