Power Pages & access teams greyed out (SQL server connection)

Hi there,

I noticed that the “Access team” option is grayed out in Power Pages when working with Dataverse tables fed from a SQL Server connection (see attachment in Dutch). However, this is not the case with 'normal' Dynamics tables. Could someone please explain why this is happening and if we can fix this?

The goal is to ensure that when customers Login on our Power Pages the will only see the Data that is associated with them (RLS-esque),

Greetings,

Robert

If by 'Dataverse tables fed from a SQL' you are referring to Virtual Tables - only organisation owned tables are supported (Get started with virtual tables (entities) (Microsoft Dataverse) - Power Apps | Microsoft Learn
In addition, the Power Pages data access model is centered on the portal user (a contact record) and not around system users/teams. You would need to be able to relate the virtual table to a contact record to manage access to these records using entity permissions.

Yeah so access teams do not work for Virtual tables like SQL in this case.

However, the good thing is with Power Pages (as mentioned above), you do not require access teams for making RLS work. All you have to do is setup table permissions for your virtual table (Set table permissions in Power Pages | Microsoft Learn).
Lets say if you want users to see just their own records, then you will want ot simply create a table permission with scope set to contact. There would be some steps required for this like creating a relationship between contact and your virtual table, if you are not able to figure out, lemme know and i will write them down

@dileeps I would be interested in knowing these steps regardless 🙂
