Power Apps Portal License Questions

Hi Team,

I have a question regarding the PowerApps licensing for Portal (External users).

Scenario - Total portal user count is 300, Total Login/month = 6,600 (User login 22 days in a month, 300 x22 days = 6,600)

1. If I want to buy portal license in bulk which option should I follow to save the cost from the below 2 options?

2. Also, please review and let me know my pricing column calculation is correct or not?

Thank you!

Option#Solution NameUsersTotal Logins / MonthPower Apps pricingTotal Cost / MonthAssumption
1PowerApps Portal30066005,000+ logins/ month - Tier 3, $3500 ($70/unit/month, 50 units minimum)
1600+ logins/ month - Tier 3, $1,120 ($70/unit/month, 16 units minimum)
4,620User login 22 days in a month

300Unlimited$5 per user/app/month$1,500I believe this will work for only Guest portal users (external users).

    Hi @Sandeep009

Let me try to explain it in a simple way.  Below is the picture to understand

    1. External users Authenticated  = per login

    2. External users  unauthenticated = per page view licensing

For your use case, it will be tier3

Note: Your use case would fall under 5000+ to 25000. So tier 3 is sufficient

As you can see from the below table, per-app plan licensing is only for internal users. Below is the official table

    Hope it helps.

Re: Power Apps Portal License Questions

Hi @ragavanrajan - Its for external users.

When we did further analysis we identified it is too expensive for the customer to go with Portal logins for external users (Option#2), Then we started looking into Option#3, adding external users as guest users in customer's Azure AD and assign Power Apps Per app plan ($5 per user/app/month). The only caveat here is to add all external 300 users in Azure AD and assign license. Is there any additional complication to go with Option#3? Please suggest. Thank you!

    Hey @Sandeep009

Please confirm who is your intended audience internal or external users?
