New to PowerApps and Dataverse

I am new to working with Dataverse and PowerApps. My department would like to build its own PowerApp to track data. However, we cannot seem to gain access to create tables in Dataverse.  "New Table" is greyed out for us, we are not an IT Department. Is there something we are missing to gain rights to create tables in Dataverse?  I am going through PowerApps, Dataverse, Tables.  My IT contacts have not been able to assist me as they have not worked in Dataverse.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @krobert ,

You would need to purchase the appropriate Power Apps license to start using full Dataverse functionality.  There are multiple licenses available including Power Apps Per App (provides access to one App or Portal) - $5 and this is assigned as a token to an environment that can be allocated to users (each user would require the $5 license), Power Apps Per User - unlimited apps - $20 per user and there is also a consumption license as well that you can purchase.

    https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/

The purchase of the first Power Apps Per App license would allocate 5GB of Dataverse database storage where you can then create environments like Sandbox and Production (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/environments-overview)

Your user would need to be allocated a System Administrator or System Customizer role to start building the applications using Dataverse and start creating tables etc.  Note - you should always do this in a Sandbox or Production environment, don't create tables in the Default environment as best practice, see the environments link above for more details.
