Build the Power App based on Template - Service Desk

I was trying to use a template app Service Desk and modify it, using my own Excel file. I was hoping to Update and make changes in my Excel file faster using the app. Unfortunately, I could not do it as I haven't found a way to transform it. I found where the template app stores its data and I tried to save the App and use my own data, I spent the whole day trying different sources and in the end, I realised - no matter what connector you will use, this template loads all data inside the app as local storage.

The question is - Is there is a way to use this template and connect it to the Excel table without uploading the data to the App?

Or do I have to build my own from scratch and just try to duplicate some functions from this Template?

And here is one thought - if the template uses the local data, why do not tell users about it from the beginning? There are so many questions online, but no one gives a full answer. It really gives frustration to many beginners as we want to see structural and clear information.

Thanks to everyone who can give some light to this question!

    Hi @KseniyaM ,

When using templates, you will need to find the data sources from the top menus, check in View -> Data Source then see on the right-hand of the screen:

Thanks, v-jefferni for your reply. I've tried replacing a source as you mentioned, I used Sharepoint files and that Excel tables located in OneDrive. However, the problem is not in the source, but in the way it is stored in this template. All data sources in this Template loading data inside the App as a gallery. I cleared it, but once I choose another source - it is again loading inside the app. And on the left vertical pane of the App Studio, there is no icon of a data source as you can usually see when building the App from scratch or based on the Excel file (image is attached). So that was my main question - how to divert a Template App to use another kind of connector (I hope I explain clearly, I'm still learning Power Apps, so sorry if I name something in the wrong words).

Thanks one more time, but the question is still open.

    Hi @KseniyaM ,

The answer is that you can change the data source of the template, either by replacing them with hardcoded tables or with tables from like Excel or SharePoint or somewhere else.

After looking into the data source from the template, I found that all the uploaded excel tables are with single column, which means it's easy to use hardcoded tables instead of the excel tables. The biggest challenge is to find the place where a table is being used.

I found a thread in Reddit, which has the same topic as yours, for your reference:

    Hope this helps.
