Hi

After numerous testing on examples as in HELP on Understanding Data Sources, I found out that it is worth sharing.

These 3 Screens (in fact can be combined into 2 screens) + 1 data (excel, which I link to Dropbox) prove that:

- WRITE is possible now, and at the same time

- READ data from excel file, Edit, and Write back. (I guess they are using the auto generated code to Read / Write back so that any repeating SAVE (Patch) will not occur, hence no duplicate data. Good.

So, Microsoft has made the promises in Project Siena comes true here.

Update of Data using Patch, Gallery.Updates, {XX: XX1!Text}, through Card Gallery or Infinite Screen can be quite tricky; Feel free to share here. I do face some problem and is awaiting technical help from PG.

Refresh, esp for EXCEL is still very useful especially changes are made to KEY DATA in excel (Datasource) for pushing into Apps. (Awaiting.....)

Please see the link below and feel free to download to expedite learning.

    Regarding duplicate data, have you built a button to find and remove duplicate entries?

    This is what I have so far and it's not working:

    RemoveIf(source,
    CountIf(source,check in Filter(source,...).check)>1);

    The formula counts if "check" is in the table already. But all the data is in the table already. So it deletes everything (I practiced on a backup copy). Any thoughts on how I could identify if it appears more than once?

    Hi Brian

    To remove only one item at a time, Remove should be within the gallery (it looks weird to have delete button for each item, just like Edit button, but it is useful to delete duplicate items.).

    It is normal for me to include because in reality, unintentional duplicate data is always happening and always very hard to me it mistake-proof (in Japanease, Poka-Yoke).

    Sometimes, we don't even know whether the data is duplicate by accident or in fact, a real data.

    [in ERP, SAP, all data entry are by human being or using barcode. So duplicate data is possible]
