Hi - Last week I received a notification when trying to edit a canvas app in PowerApps. The error was regarding updating/upgrading the CDS as the dataset behind my app to make sure it continues to function after July 2020. As part of the upgrading process I was asked to remove and add the data source back. Since then all the formula throws error pointing out syntax errors that were previously working perfectly fine as well as the fact that none of the records are now displayed in the gallery.
Has anyone come across the same issue?
Thanks,
Shiva
Thanks @Drrickryp , I came across this article but unfortunately it didn't resolve the issue.
What I'm trying to do is to use the choice from an option set as a filter in a formula (e.g. to count the records in a gallery that meet a certain criteria, or to only show records in the gallery that have a specific value in a column (the column being of option set type), etc.). Do you have a suggestion on how I can make this work now that my previous formula is no longer working?
Thanks.
Hi @Anonymous
Here is an article related to Option sets and syntax. It has a better explanation than I can give you and I hope it helps. https://michalguzowski.pl/how-to-work-with-option-set-in-powerapps/
Hi @Drrickryp,
This is an example of a formula that was functional before:
Account is an entity, DiversityProgram is a column (option set with two choices) in that entity. The error makes sense as far as compatibility of data type but it wasn't an issue before updating the CDS connector.
I tried different syntax with text, value, etc., as well as [@DiversityProgram].WM instead of "WM" but it didn't work.
Thanks.
Hi @Anonymous
Could you post some examples of the errors that you are getting please?
Hi @chsanche,
Thanks for your response, unfortunately this didn't resolve the issue. What's odd is that the formula are showing errors that were not existing before. For instance, in multiple places I had formula in which a specific choice from an option set was used in a text evaluation as a filter, and it was working just fine, but now it says incompatible data type and none of the solutions online in using value, etc. worked.
Are there any other steps I can take?
Thanks.
Hi @Anonymous
Can you please try deleting the last character in the formula and re-adding that one again? We have seen this scenario in the past that after we update the data source by removing the last character the issue gets resolved.
Best Regards,
