Hello Power Users,

I'm having a requirement where I have to use data verse as a document library. Like uploading files retrieving it from power apps. I have an app that involves lot of files to upload and retrieve and wanted to use data verse for this.

Is there any best approach to implement this requirement.

Can anyone please help me or suggest me for this?

Thank you so much in advance!

    Hi,

I don't think it will be a good idea as very soon you will be out of space, I will suggest you to use SharePoint as backend for your app, you will get true document management features from SP as well.

Storage/capacity in Dataverse is expensive so don’t waste it on documents.

Do explore SharePoint Online features to satisfy your requirements. A list and a nicely formatted form sometimes is all you need. Now if you need a complex app with relational data that additionally stores documents, now we can explore Dataverse.

when you create a Dataverse table, there is an option to enable it for document management. Check that box for your tables. Now go to SPO and create a site - this one will be only for Model-Driven App integration. Go back to the maker portal and go to Advanced Settings, it will take you to the classic UI. From there go to Document Management and select the Document Management Settings. Follow the wizard prompts and input your SPO site. It will run a backend process that will integrate Dataverse with SPO. Now in your MDA for your selected table you will see a Documents tab under ‘Related’ that will auto-create a SPO folder for your record and let you use document management without using Dataverse capacity.
