Jump to more detail when select gallery item

Newb here. I'm trying to create a canvas app to help people find a mentor where they can select certain characteristics that will filter the potential matches in the gallery. Once they get down to a short list they need to be able to click on any of the potential matches and go to a screen with more detailed info about that person.

The data source is a sharepoint list but I cannot work out how to allow the user to click on an entry in the gallery and go to a screen with the more detailed info in it for the selected person.  This auto works in an app created from the data source (Browse to Detail) but I've created this from a blank app and can't seem to replicate. Any help appreciated.

    1. Drop an edit form into the view more detail screen. make sure defualt mode is set to view and not new or it will be blank when the page loads.
    2. Set the Data Source to your SP list that the item is coming from. this should match the Data source of the gallery the selected item is coming from.
    3. Set the item property of the view form to YourGalleryName.Selected
    4. In your gallery where the item to view will be selected set the onselect property for whatever you want them to click (usually some icon etc.) to Navigate(YourScreenWithViewForm).

This should display the item that was selected in the form. You can then add an icon for a back button and use the code Back() for its onselect property.

If that doesnt work you can Edit the code in step 4 above to be:

    Navigate(YourScreenWithViewForm, ScreenTransition.None, {selecteditem: ThisItem})

This will navigate to the same sreen, but this time will pass an object to that screen that is accessable via the variable name "selecteditem". You can then change the item property on your view form to be:

LookUp(SPListName, ID = selecteditem.ID) and you should be set.

@mmollet - Yes I was able to add the datasource and Item property for FormViewer (Display Form). But my display form is still showing as "This form isn't connected to data" and so i am not able to add any fields to it. When playing the form the No display data is not coming. So what should be done for that. Also I am using custom connector connection as my data source.
