Using image field in Offline modus - Model Driven App

Hi!

Does anyone has some experience in using the image field in offline situations? I'm building a model driven iPad inspection app where images should be stored next to an inspection. But sometimes they work on locations where no internet is available.

When Internet is connected, the image fields work properly in the app. But when I switch to the offline modus I get some strange error that this record not available is.

Thanks!

Elowy

Hi @GrootCRM, If you are using File column type then unfortunately from what I know it is not yet supported in offline mode. Suggest to submit that idea though at: https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Power-Apps-Ideas/idb-p/PowerAppsIdeas

    Cheers

    Hi Eric,

Many thanks for your reply! Any suggestion on how to solve the requirement? I'm thinking of an embedded canvas app specific for the image requirement (however,  I wonder if embedded and canvas is a good match). With that solution I could let the canvas app wait for a connection before it syncs newly created images. But I won't be able to see previously stored images...
Other solution could be to make a separate canvas app for this requirement. But will that work well with images stored in Dataverse? Or should I use Sharepoint instead (found some articles on that one).

    Thanks!
    Elowy.

Just voted for the idea 🙂 I personally never tried to build a canvas app with offline capabilities but it's worth a try and perhaps doing a small proof-of-concept before committed yourself too much? If that works that would be a great approach with an embedded app or even a small canvas apps for offline mode. A link that can help: https://docs.microsoft.com/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/offline-apps

Not sure how relevant this issue with time passing but it is now available!
