Canvas App - Dynamic connection to Dynamics 365 in case same PowerApp to be used for multiple orgs

Hi Team,

I have created one PowerApp which is used to move records from one businessunit to another in Dynamics 365. However I wanted to use this across DEV, SIT, UAT, PROD instances. During creation of App, I created data connection with DEV instance. How can I configure it for other instances? Is there any way I can do it dynamically or give flexibility to end user to decide? I have checked blogs/articles but did not get useful pointers.

This feature is really required and usefel when working with Dynamicss 365 as data source.

Thanks & Regards

    Hi @Sachinbansal,

I am afraid there is no way to switch the instance automatically.

The instance need to be pre-added into the App during the App Editing.

If you would like to switch the intances (for the same tenant), then a possible workaround is to build multiple screens to hold the data from different instance, then use navigate() function to move to each screen. This requires user interaction when running the App, and additional work to implement it.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

    Regards,

    Michael

Thanks @v-micsh-msft for your response. Do we know if this is something part of future enhancements? As of now instead of creating multiple screens, I have created multiple data sources like if I have 5 instances and each has 4 entities/tables, I have created 20 data sources 4 for each instance. I am able to set a variable to correct data source based on instance selected from a drop down and this variable I can use as items property of controls. This is not configurable solution but in case we have static list of instances to work with, should work.

    Thanks & Regards
