Hi All,
Anybody trying the PVA preview? I have a condition test that calls a goto step.
The condition is validating the variable entered by a user. If the value is invalid then I want to goto back to the question.
It does go back to the question but gets in an infinite loop. I can't see a way to reinitialise the variable - maybe that would work
Thanks
Joe
Hi @JoeGill .
We have now actually built validation rules into the Question Node. If you open the properties on the node and head into the Question Behavior properties in the right-hand pane, you will see you can add a condition.
Here you can enter a rule that needs to be met which, in this case, would be Topic.LoanAmount > 0, as shown below.
You can also specify a custom retry message if that rule is not met, as seen here.
This simplifies your topic as you don't need to add additional conditions to check the value.
Lastly, if you end up still needing to use the goto in the future, you would need to set the Question Node to 'Always Ask' (i.e. don't skip if already has a value). This has the downside of essentially disabling slot filling, but would ensure you don't end up in an infinite loop.
Hope that helps!
Brill thanks Gary
Hi @GaryPrettyMsft ,
I have the same issue, except I can't use the Question trick, as I'm getting a result from a Power Automate flow, so I have to check the return value in a condition. When the condition test is false, I have a message and then a go-to step node that goes to an initial question higher up in the flow. The bot doesn't ask the specified question and skips directly to the Power Automate step and goes into an infinite loop. I've tried changing the step to an even higher one, but that makes no difference. I've also tried to change the go-to step to and end topic step, but that also just loops infinitely
Any ideas on what I can try?
Kind regards,
Charl Marais
Have you set the question node to 'Always Ask'?
I did not. 😫 Thank you @JoeGill , completely forgot that was a think.
