Attach a file to a list item using powerapps/powerautomate NOT from my computer

Hi

I've searched for this all over and can't find a solution - maybe I'm not clear on the search

Anyway - I have two lists - one tracks request, the other is a document library - both in sharepoint online

I would like to be able to add/attach/link from the Document library to an item in the sharepoint list - using automation or via powerapps.

When you manually chose to attach a file to a list time - the only option is to upload from computer (not from a sharepoint library)

Looking at powerapps, the control to add files works the same.

They question is - can I do this another way? Create a link instead - would that work better?

Thanks

    Hello @elsteshepardo

It would be possible but you'll have to use PowerAutomate on this.

You can pass a URL from your App and then on the OnSuccess property of your form, launch a PowerAutomate to make the call of the URL and attach its content to your SharePoint list.

Your Automate would be in this order

    • GetURL from PowerApps
    • GetID from PowerApps (The LastSubmit ID of your form)
    • Initialize an Attachment Variable
    • Use GetFile Action via the URL
    • Make sure you know the write JSON format to create a file attachment
    • Use SharePoint Update Item to include the JSON

    Hi @elsteshepardo ,

The Flow looks like this - you just need to send the IDs of both the Library File (you can get this by displaying the Library in a Gallery and it will be ThisItem.ID) and the List ID
