Re: PowerApps Excel Connector: "No tables were found in the Excel File"

Hi @iAm_ManCat,

Thanks for your response. It is not working for me!

I have a large excel [macro-enable file, .xlsm] file of which I need 1 sheet/page of data. Since Power Apps can't connect to .xlsm file, I tried to save it as .xlsx/ .xls -but then it complains that the file size is too big.

I just copied that worksheet [even tried just to copy the data] and created a new .xlsx workbook. I selected the data and then selected "Format as Table"; I didn't get any small window popping up with a check box "My table has header"! Also, the table is detected as a Pivot table. I saved the file and closed.  Tried to connect from Power Apps [with Add data ...], but when I selected the file, I am still getting the error!

I tried to find in "Design" tab if the table has a name/ if I have to rename the table! But I can't find the "Table Name" piece. There is always MS updates happening, not sure where the "Table name" piece is hiding now!

I would appreciate it if you could help in this. Many thanks!

If Power Apps says that 'There are no tables in this file' then the file was not correctly formatted - this is also confirmed when you said it detected that its a pivot table - Power Apps cannot use this.

What I suspect has happened is that when you pasted the table into the new file, it was not flat data - it needs to be a flat table for Power Apps to work with it.

I would try pasting in the data, make sure to choose 'values only', then try to format it as a table.

If this doesn't work then try pasting in the data, make sure to choose 'values only', then save the file as a csv. Open it again and read the table as a csv, then format the table, which should detect the flat data table from the csv.

    Hi @iAm_ManCat ,

Many thanks for your prompt response! 🙂 I did copy- paste [Value only] and saved it as a .csv file. Then open the file, "Format as a Table" step, saved it as .xlsx and closed. This way I could connect to that table from Power Apps and see the data!!

My next Q is: even I could test the data in Power Apps with the work around from my One drive, how do we actually get /prepare the data for DEV/UAT/PROD version of the App?

I would appreciate it if you could share your experience in this type of scenario.  Cheers!

    Hello,

I am attempting to generate a PowerApps table from an excel file organized by a date/event for each row, and various categorical columns across the columns.   When I instruct powerapps using Import >> Import Data >> Choose Data Source from Excel Workbook (Or drag and drop), then finish the steps in Query Editor, and Publish,  no table is created.   I do not understand why.
