How to change power app form control from date time to text.

Hi

My power app form is connected to an excel sheet.  I added a couple of columns to the sheet after building my app.  The columns although they contain text, inherited the date time format and hence the control in my form in the app is now date time but I need it to be text.

How do I go about changing it so it will allow for text entry and NOT date time?

I haven't used Excel as a data source, but when I'm using SharePoint I would take these steps:

    1. Correct the column formatting in your spreadsheet

    2. Delete the data cards of the affected columns on hour form

    3. Refresh your data source

    4. Add the columns again and they should come in with the correct format.

With excel, you will have to delete the data source connection in your app, and add it back after making the format changes in your excel.

Let me know if this doesn't work for you.

    Hi @Mbruse ï¼Œ

Do you want to use datepicker controls to update text type field?

Could you tell me what controls in details that you use to update this field?

I assume that you use a datepicker, two drop downs to choose date time.

Try this formula to transfer the datetime value that these two controls represent to text type:

    Text(DatePicker1.SelectedDate&Time(Dropdown1.Selected.Value,Dropdown2.Selected.Value,0),ShortDateTime24)

     (drop down1 represents time,drop down2 represents minutes)

Here's a doc about Text function for your reference:

    Best regards,

This worked.  A side effect though all fields turned to custom.  Was not sure how to fix that so recreated the form.  Thank you
