SQL connector

Good afternoon,

Guys please help me. I currently use the powerbi free version, with Sharepoint lists. I am thinking of acquiring the premium to use SQL database. Will each user using the SQL connector have to have a premium license? or I’ll just need a license, which I’ll use to develop.
Thanks and sorry for the novice question.

The On-Prem SQL Connector was made premium in early 2019 and the Azure SQL connector was made premium in late 2019. Yeah, some very unhappy people who moved from On-Prem to Azure to avoid the licensing and then got caught anyway - to be fair the people using Azure SQL in their existing Apps got an exemption to keep using those existing Apps to 2024 without having to pay the license.

For *users* to make use of an App which includes a Premium connector (including the SQL Connector) the cost on the 'per app' plan is $10 per user per month per App*

    * You can buy a 'per user' plan at $40 per user per month which allows that user to run as many Apps with premium connectors as you like. With the 'per App' plan you can actually run two Apps if they are part of the same business process (e.g. there is a mobile and a desktop version of the 'same' App).

I've done a lot of work with PowerApps over the last couple of years and I'm afraid I would likely advise you to use another solution for the reasons I give here:

Unless you have a relatively simple app with a high value and low number of users I just don't think the 'total cost of ownership' stacks up against other possible solutions.
