Creating dynamic field inspection checklists

Hi there,

We are trying to determine if PowerApps is suitable for a set of checklists that we are trying to create.

  1. User logs into 'tool'/app:
  2. User selects an object (car, boat or truck)
  3. User selects a checklist (electrical, mechanical or general).
  4. User gets a specific checklist (set of questions with yes/no answers) to do the field inspection and submit to a database

Based on the combination selected, the checklist will be different.

The checklist themselves are not complicated, maybe up to 50 questions with IF/THEN logic between them. Need ability to add a picture per checklist item (as required).

Would PowerApps be able to handle those requirements nicely? Instead of creating 100s of fields and using a hide/show property on each one depending on object/checklist selected (i feel this may be very painful administratively?).

I like the idea of quickly-developed, intuitive forms integrated with Microsoft Ecosystem (we are also using Power BI) so it would be nice to keep our overall environment all the 'same;

Any ideas welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

    Hey @msandico

    A good way to learn and build your own is to deconstruct some of the template apps.  They already have an inspection app free to download here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/platform/samples/app-templates#inspection-

    Worth a look.

    Cheers,

    Damien

    Thanks, I have looked at it and it's quite basic. One checklist with a fixed number of fields. My question is more around if PowerApps can be used/is feasible to use in the specific use case I mentioned above. For many checklists depending on what object/checklist combination is selected by the user. Can PA gracefully be used for that or is custom development maybe better suited for that complexity?
