How best to deal with required Form Fields in Standard Dataverse Tables/Forms (such as Opportunity)

Hi all,

Newbiew question. We are using Model Driven app and Dataverse for a basic CRM.

We  going to use the existing Opportunity table and add some table columns to fit our particular data capture requirements.

The one thing I'm not sure on is how to create a new Form (or customise the existing Main Form) for a Model Driven app form based on the Opportunity Main table, but exclude some of the required columns/Form Fields?

An example is the "Total Amount" on the Opportunity Main Form. When I try to delete this I get an error "Required Form Field, Required form fields cannont be deleted"

I can't see where this is set as required, and can't work out how to remove it.

What is the best option to start a basic Form based on a standard table?

Thanks,

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @sossie07 ,

One method is to change the required level.

Some of the fields cannot be made optional as they might be system fields. Once you add a required field to the form, you cannot remove it, but you can hide it.

General rule: do not delete out of the box fields. Next update from Microsoft they will likely reappear.  In the past deleting an out of the box field could actually cause a release from Microsoft to fail.

Make them optional (where allowed), and/or set them as not visible on the Form.

Update the Column definition (checkbox) so they are not visible in advanced find

Often get renamed, so that other developers etc know they are not in use.

Some Required fields can also be set Optional via Business Rules or JavaScript on the Form.
