Timesheet Functionality in Model Driven Apps

I am developing my own CRM+PSA system.  (Professional Service Automation or Project Service in Dynamics 'speak')  I am using  Common Data Service Model Driven App.  I see that in Dynamics Project Service there is a grid-like weekly timesheet functionality (see picture).  Are there any UI components available to me in MDA to replicate this kind of view?  I have been using editable grids, but this seems to be a different UI element altogether.

Also, another quick question, is there any significance to the Calendar Icon to the left of Time Entries.   I notice that if I add various entities from the CDS Core set i get different 'icons'.  If i add my own custom entities I get a jigsaw type icon.

what is the significance of the calendar icon and are there any existing entities that come with the sort of calendar/grid UI i would like to emulate?

As far as I know, there is no control in model-driven apps that lets you add time-sheet like control. You can build your own with PCF / HTML Web Resource but that's a lot of custom code.

Regarding the icon of the calendar, I don't see any significance. All the existing entities have dedicated icons provided by Microsoft. For custom entities, a default jigsaw icon is given which can be changed with the custom one.

    Hi @ghdunn

Did you ever find a way to achieve this? I’m looking to do something similar and can’t find anything online.

Hi @danny90 No, don't think we did pursue this but its some time ago you could check the current state of the controls in the Solution customisation. We also considered using 3rd party controls but again decided it was more customisation than I wanted to pursue.  The thinking behind the question was whether we could get timesheet functionality without subscribing to PSA/PO but in the end we just subscribed.

hi @ghdunn thanks for coming back to me bud. Haha, that’s our exact use case! We’re only a small business so the price is pretty steep but we need that bit more granular detail and I’m not sure that pso/po would work straight out of the box. Did you go with the oob and has it been a valuable worthwhile purchase?

NP Dan - happy to help.

Its probably not a short answer ...I think it depends what you are trying to do and how sophisticated you want to get.  I am happy to get on a quick call and discuss if you want...I will dm you with my email.
