How to allow multiple people to edit / train a model

Good evening, I have an AI Builder Document Processing (processing vendor invoices) project for a client.  They want to be able to start training additional collections at the same time that I am training the largest 5 collections in their model.  Apparently, sharing the model only allows them to use it in their Flows.  On the Docs site, it says that adding them as a "System Customizer" should allow them to edit the model even though it is not supported by Microsoft.  They have decided to now change the "Owner" to one of their users which allows that person to edit now.  Unfortunately, now I am getting a "The model's original data isn't available in this environment." error and it asks if I want to create a new model......  That will not work since I need to create and train 5 collections as part of the contract and they want to be training the other 20 or so collections while I finish up the Flow creation, top 5 invoice collection training, etc.  How do you handle this issue?  I asked their IT person to assign "System Customizer" to the customers user so they could create their own collections in my model but apparently that did not provide them with that permission.

If the "system customizer" role should indeed work, does anyone have a step by step process on how to add someone to that role?  If so, I'll get them to add me but, as I said before, they supposedly tried that and it did not work.

If you have any other suggestions, I would love to hear them!

Thank you,

Ford Wilkinson

    Hi @ford_wilkinson ,

Thanks for the great question. There's indeed a possible workaround by using the System Customizer: Have you followed all the steps of this doc? Share your AI model - AI Builder | Microsoft Docs

However, note that we are not officially supporting this workaround as indicated.

Good news is that we are working on a new feature that will allow to share a model as co-owner so several people can edit a model and not only the original owner. This should be live around mid/end of October.

    Thank you Antrod,

That's great news and I will pass the info on the new co-owner sharing to the client.  Unfortunately, I do not have visibility to how the client tried to assign the "System Customizer" role but from what I gathered, it did not work.

@Antrod  did this feature ever go live?

The only way I have been able to make this work is to assign the users "System Customizer" role but have not seen any new functionality.  It gets tricky if you have multiple users adding / tagging / training the same model.

    Hi @KSanders ,

Priorities shifted a bit recently but we now have the feature finalized on our side and we are finalizing the tests.

It should be available in the coming weeks, we'll keep you informed 🙂
