Dataverse backup for archive documents

Hi,
I would like to ask about possible ways of making long term backups of data's that we keep in Dataverse. I have documents with attachments, and at the end of business process their status is "Archive". In Dataverse we can keep and restore backups only to 7 days. I have a business need to keep such documents for 10 years. I have read our possibilities and we can use Azure Synapse and Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 to continously export data's and then copy them to Azure SQL to data warehouse. But these are additional costs. We can also use Power Automate to prepare schedule flow and export data's to excel files.
Are there any other options in Power Platform to manage backups in long term strategy ? We also need to be able to view archive documents but do not want to keep cold data's in Dataverse.

Thanks for all your directions/comments.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @mdrapala,

The most cost efficient for archive/cold storage would be Azure Blob Storage. Azure Data Lake is built on top of Blob Storage and is in general cost effective, especially compared to retaining all this data in a transactional store like Dataverse. You can use Azure Data Factory to shuttle the data across the data stores and is cost by consumption, so should also be fairly cost effective depending how much data you are moving.

    Hi @ChrisPiasecki,

many thanks for your comment. I have a two additional question:

    1. Can I connect directly to Azure Blob Storage from Dataverse ? ( I tried to connect with Azure Synaps Link and get data's to Azure Data lake, then with Data Factory copy to Azure SQL - and at the and put them to Azure Blob Storage). Maybe there is other approach.
    2. How can I access to my data's that are kept in Azure Blob Storage from Power Apps applications ?

I will be greatfull for this directions !
