Stuck in play mode?

Hello all.

I built an app with two screens, but now I can't edit one of the screens.

Each time I try to edit the app, it immediately opens and "plays" screen 1 and moves straight to screen two.

If I use the navigation pane on the left to click on any of the controls on screen one in order to edit it, the screen simply plays and moves focus to screen two. So I can no longer edit the canvas and other controls on screen one.

Please how can I get out of this loop?

Thanks.

With these types of authentication errors the best thing to do is to clear your browsing history and cookies, and try again.

    Hi @RubbyJ

This sounds very strange and it's something that I've not heard of before.

As a first step, I would try the 'in private' or incognito modes of the browser, or I try using a different browser. Perhaps there might be some browser extension that is causing the problem whereby clicking a control in screen one in edit mode plays the app.

In terms of screen one navigating directly to screen two, can you confirm whether you've added any timer code, or whether you have any formula in the OnVisible property of screen one that navigates to screen two?

    Hi@RubbyJ,

Could you please share a bit more about the scenario?

What do you mean the edit and play in this situation, is this in a PowerApps portal page make.powerapps.com

Do you mean the above situation is in the PowerApps studio?

Based on your needs, there is too little information available for me to make a judgment.

Is there ant formula you have put on the Screen1 or the App, please check the formula and answer the above questions.

Or you could try to create a new app to see if could solve this problem.

    Hope it could help.

    Best Regards,

    Qi

    Hi Timl,

It's not really an authentication issue but I've done what you suggested (clear history/cookies, use incognito mode, use different browser) but still the same issue persists.

I can't check the property of the screen because of the issue. I didn't add any timer but tried the button to "Preview the App" and that's where the app continues to run each time I try to go to edit the screen.

I think the issue is how to exit this preview mode. I can send some screen shots or recording of the screen, if needed.

    Thanks.

    Hi Qi,

Yes, it is in the PowerApps studio. And no, there's no formula on the screen and unfortunately, I can't confirm this again because of this issue - it doesn't allow me to edit the screen.

    Other apps work fine. Thanks.

Hello guys, I finally nailed it.

The Form writes a record to a SharePoint list. Each time it loads, it checks if the record already exists and if yes, it closes the form. So while trying to preview the form, it created such a record.

I had to delete the row on the SharePoint list to terminate the loopback on the preview. I'm glad it's resolved and maybe I couldn't describe the issue properly but thanks anyway, for your help.
