Copilot Agent Answering Twice

Is anyone experiencing an issue where the Copilot Agent responds twice to a single user query? In my setup, I’m using Generative AI Orchestration with Topics to guide the agent to the correct documents. Each topic uses a generative AI node configured with only the “selected” knowledge.

What Happens:

The agent provides two consecutive responses:
1. The first response summarizes referenced documents (which isn’t helpful).
2. The second response either answers the question correctly or states it cannot find any relevant knowledge sources—even though the first response referenced the correct document, but didn’t actually answer the question.

Current Configuration:

Orchestration: Generative AI

Model: GPT-5 Chat

Do me a favor, run it in Copilot Studio (if you can repro it there), make sure to be on the Activities tab, let's see what gets triggered so we can verify why topics or instructions are being duplicated.

The situation has changed slightly somehow, my copilot agent is still answering twice, but seems to be responding in a delayed manner. You can see Photo 1 and photo 2 attachments, where my first question was given generic information. Then when I asked my 2nd questions, it answer both questions at once. This is very strange, when I first created this agent a few month ago, situations like this never happened. This seems to be somewhat recent.

It’s good to see how your topic is orchestrated. Could you please share some screenshots and the information?
A few troubleshooting steps:

If you are using the Generate Answers node, make sure the Send a message checkbox is unselected when posting the answer or as you need

If answers are appearing with a delay or only after a new question is asked, you can prevent this by adding the End all conversations action within your topic.
