Need Explanation for 'When role is assigned to a Team' Section in Role Creation

Hi All,

I am setting up a new role within our system and I've stumbled upon a section that I could use some help with understanding. The section is titled "When role is assigned to a Team" and includes the following statements:

  • Team member gets all team privileges by default.
  • Team members can inherit team privileges directly based on access level.

This section is highlighted in red in the image I've attached with this post. I'm seeking clarification on what these statements mean in practice. Does this mean that any individual assigned to this role will automatically receive all the privileges that are set for the team, and additionally, there's an inheritance of privileges based on their access level?

Additionally, there's a dropdown menu for "Member's privilege inheritance" with options such as "Direct User (Basic) access level and Team privileges" and "Team privileges only." Could someone elaborate on how these settings affect the user's access?

Lastly, there's a switch for "AI-Driven apps" – if anyone has experience with this, I'd like to understand how toggling this affects the role.

Any guidance or resources you can provide would be incredibly helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Lets say your user has not privileges to a particular Table, but they belong to a Team that has privileges, so they inherit those privileges.

If the Team has a privilege that is set to only have User (basic) level, what used to happen was the User would not actually inherit User Level (as the user level it was inheriting was actually a Team level as the role in question was assigned to the team), so they couldn't inherit a true basic/user level from a Role assigned to a Team.  The dropdown was added to the Role so that you could get basic/user level from Team inheritance.

(unfortunately the doco for this has never adequately described the difference between the 2 options)

    Thanks for the clarification.
