How to Display Multiple Line Text in Gallery

I have created a Collection

Phineas_0-1645828773740.png

Some of the data is coming from Combo Box where multiple Items can be chosen by the user or are defaulted to the

Combo Box by formula.

I can see the text from the single-line text fields of the Collection. However, those that show as table/record do not
return data to red circled field in the Gallery.

    @Phineas

    Your formula is not specifying a field/column, it is specifying a record.

    So, what is that control type in your Gallery?  And is this a Gallery or a Form?

    Also, which column from your data are you trying to display and what kind of column is it?

    So, what is that control type in your Gallery = Label field (Subtitle3_6 of the Gallery)

    Is this a Gallery or a Form? Gallery (FilteredRegistrantsGallery_1)

    Which column from your data are you trying to display (several 'record's from Collection, as shown in the first image)

    What kind of column is it? (multiple-lines of text' columns in List)

    @Phineas

    So, what is that control type in your Gallery = Label field (Subtitle3_6 of the Gallery) Very good, you are trying to work with a label.

    Is this a Gallery or a Form? Gallery (FilteredRegistrantsGallery_1) All good.

    Which column from your data are you trying to display (several 'record's from Collection, as shown in the first image)  Not asking about the records, I'm asking about the column from your data that you are trying to display. Your image shows 6 columns - which one is the one?

    What kind of column is it? (multiple-lines of text' columns in List)  If you are trying to display multiple lines of text in a label - this is no issue.  Multi-line text is already text, so your Text property of the label only needs to reference that column (i.e. ThisItem.yourColumn)

    BUT, you started out specifically stating the following:

    "Some of the data is coming from Combo Box where multiple Items can be chosen by the user or are defaulted to the Combo Box by formula."

    So what does this have to do with the issue you are having, or was it just a general statement?

    There are three galleries on the front page.

    Each has the following field on it. The process requires three different data entry configurations. I've set it up so that whichever one is used (only one can be used), I can capture, save, and retrieve the data.

    I am saving the contents of these fields (along with all the other required data) to a Collection and then retrieving those contents to the fields in the Gallery we are discussing.

    I've tried it this way - directly from those fields (drop downs and combo boxes; I can get the drop down data to populate but I get errors from the combo box data. The direct method formula is below.

    PrimaryMaterialsPurchasingGroupDD.SelectedItems.Results & PSMPurchasingGroupCB.SelectedItems.Result & PSMPGProcurementProfessionalCB.SelectedItems.Result

    I am filtering the Gallery by company name, see below:

    FirstN(Filter(RegistrantFormCollection, CompanyName=GCCompanyNameFld_1.Text))

    I'm getting the first two columns directly from those fields on the main screen, not from here in the Collection.

    I am unable to get any data to show from either process on the PrimaryProcurementProfe and PrimaryPurchasing, either directly or through the Collection.

    @Phineas

    First, your Items property on the Gallery should simply be:

        LookUp(RegistrantFormCollection, CompanyName=GCCompanyNameFld_1.Text)

    This is more efficient than filtering all the items and then taking the first record.  Lookup will simply return the first record based on the filter/criteria.

    Next, so are you then trying to display choices from the comboboxes or from the collection?  Your formula references the comboboxes.

    If this is what you have stored in the collection, then your label should have a formula such as:

       Concat(ThisItem.PrimaryCategory<can'tReadTheRestOfYourColumnNameInThePhoto>, Result)

    When you are trying to display multiple items from a table into a text, you use the Concat function.

    Didn't like either try.

    First one - column PrimaryPurchasingGroup

    Error Message: The function 'Concat' has some invalid arguments.

    Phineas_0-1645835646681.png

    Concat(ThisItem.PrimaryProcurementProfessional,Result)

    Error: The fuction 'Concat' has some invalid arguments.

    @Phineas

    Yes, so I really need to know more about how you are putting those columns into your collection and what the schema of the table for that column is.  Perhaps you can hover over the error in the formula and determine what the real error is that it is stating.  Is it not liking the column Result or is there something else about it?

    Okay, I'll try to start again.

    There is a registration form. The task is to be able to collect data on registrants in one of three ways -

    By:
              Category/Commodity or,
              Procurement Professional or,
              Purchasing Group

    All data has been provided and is in a SharePoint list that I am pulling into a Collection.

    This first image below is the rep collecting data by 'Category/Commodity'. These are all Combo Boxes pulling related data from the List or Collection.

    Category Items:
    Sort(Distinct(ServiceMaterialsDTECollection, Category), Result)

    Procurement Professional DefaultSelectedItems
    With({wServiceMaterialsDTE:Sort(ServiceMaterialsDTE, CategoryManager, Descending)},Sort(Distinct(Filter(wServiceMaterialsDTE, Category in PrimaryMaterialsCategoryCB.SelectedItems),CategoryManager),Result))

    Purchasing Group:
    With({wServiceMaterialsDTE:Sort(ServiceMaterialsDTE, Title, Descending)},Sort(Distinct(Filter(wServiceMaterialsDTE, Category in PrimaryMaterialsCategoryCB.SelectedItems),Title),Result))

    Phineas_0-1645898005146.png

    This second screen is the rep collecting data by 'Procurement Professional'. You can see the same Procurement Professional's name from above. She has '6' Category items associated with her and is associated with the Distribution Operations Buyers.

    Phineas_1-1645898835187.png

    If I pick a second Procurement Professional the process (and formula shown below which is used in the 'Category/Commodity' combo box), shows that the '6 items' associated with the first member choice has been replaced by one item, 'Legal', associated with the second member choice, rather than having '7' items associated with both.

    All items associated with 'all' names chosen in Combo Box one should appear in Combo box two.

    The same should occur for 'Purchasing Group' (Combo Box three), based off the content of Combo Box one (which seems to be working; there is one Purchasing Group associated with each member.

    Category/Commodity DefaultSelectedItems:
    With({wServiceMaterialsDTE:Sort(ServiceMaterialsDTE, Title, Descending)},Sort(Distinct(Filter(wServiceMaterialsDTE, CategoryManager in PSMProcurementProfesionalCB.SelectedItems),Title),Result))
    Filter(ServiceMaterialsDTE,Category, CategoryManager = PSMProcurementProfesionalCB.Selected.Result)

    Phineas_2-1645898975461.png

    Purchasing Group DefaultSelectedItems:
    With({wServiceMaterialsDTE:Sort(ServiceMaterialsDTE, Title, Descending)},Sort(Distinct(Filter(wServiceMaterialsDTE, CategoryManager in PSMProcurementProfesionalCB.SelectedItems),Title),Result))

    Phineas_3-1645899396211.png

    The filter for 'Category/Commodity' above is (CategoryManage IS Procurement Professional):

    Category/Commodity DefaultSelectedItems:
    Filter(ServiceMaterialsDTE,Category, CategoryManager = PSMProcurementProfesionalCB.Selected.Result)

    Also, when I try a similar formula to the other combo boxes, rather than the above I get a delegation error.

           Error: Delegation warning. The "Sort" part of this formula might not work correctly on large data sets.

    Category/Commodity DefaultSelectedItems:
    With({wServiceMaterialsDTE:Sort(ServiceMaterialsDTE, Category, Descending)},Sort(Distinct(Filter(wServiceMaterialsDTE, CategoryManager in PrimaryMaterialsCategoryCB.SelectedItems),Category),Result))

    Phineas_4-1645901033526.png

    Here is the Collection formula.
    ClearCollect( RegistrantFormCollection,
    {CompanyName: GCCompanyNameFld_1.Text,
    PotentionalClassification: PotentialClassificationDD_1.SelectedItems.Value,
    PrimaryCategoryType: PrimaryServiceMaterialRadioBtn_1.Selected.Value,
    PrimaryCategoryCommodity: PrimaryMaterialsCategoryCB.SelectedItems.Result,
    PrimaryProcurementProfessional: PrimaryMaterialsProcurementProfessionalCB.SelectedItems,
    PrimaryPurchasingGroup: PrimaryMaterialsPurchasingGroupDD.SelectedItems,
    PrimaryImage: Image2_1.Image,
    PrimaryImmediateNeed: PSMCategoryCheckbox_1.Value
    })

    I finally made some headway using the following in the Category/Commodity Combo Box.

    It seems to be returning all data to the control based on the number of members chosen in the related Combo Box.

    Please disregard my previous. I'm going to try this in the spots I'm having issue to see, and reach out with a fresh question as necessary.

    Filter(ServiceMaterialsDTECollection,Category, CategoryManager in PSMProcurementProfesionalCB.SelectedItems.Result,Category)

    Thanks!
