Power Apps Submit Form not sending data to the SharePoint list

Hello,

I created a canvas Power App connected to 4 separate SharePoint lists. There are 4 screens where a user can submit a form. Users select the form they need to complete, fill it out, and submit it. Then, the data populates on a separate screen where other users can review the data and make edits as needed.

As the creator of the app, when I submit a test form, the data connects without any issues and the SP list is updated. This works on all 4 forms. However, when a user tries to submit a form, it only works on 2 of the 4 lists. I have tried setting list permissions to Edit without success, so I tried Full Control. The Full Control permission works for 2 out of the 4 lists.

Does anyone know why my data won't send to the list after submitting the form in my app? Is there something I need to do with list permissions/in the app directly to solve this issue? We want any user to be able to use the app, but not have member access to the SharePoint site where it's housed, just the list. This is the first app I have built so I'm not sure if I am missing something.

    Hi @morganlavey ,

    I am not sure I have the answer here, but it certainly sounds like a permissions issue. A user only needs Contribute permissions in SharePoint to be able to write to a list from Power Apps, so have any of these lists had "stop inheriting permissions" applied in SharePoint ?

    All lists have "stop inheriting parent permissions" applied, and the users that have tried to submit the form have Full Control. They have the same permissions for each list, but only 2 of the 4 are submitting data. It's so strange!

    @morganlavey ,

    Strange indeed - I cannot think of anything else with different user access with that message other than a data source permissions issue.

    I want to share the lists but not give access to the site where they're housed. I used unique permissions and did not inherit from the parent site. Nobody was able to submit anything for any list unless they were given full control, and now it's only partially working.

    When you create an app and set permissions that are unique, how do you set them up? Do you add each person individually? Are there additional steps other than adding them and given them permission? Wondering if I am missing an additional step.

    Hi @morganlavey ,

    I use Security Groups and share the list with them then simply add/remove users as required. You should only need Contribute as a minimum.
