How to hide document from User One Drive

Hi

I have a powerapp that lets user to change some of data in excel file sitting in OneDrive. Since user updates the data, I needed to provide edit access (though I didn't send notification that I shared). When the user searched for the doc in Shared folder web onedrive, user is able to see the doc. And user is also able to change all the content in the file including other users data.

Is there a way we can hide this doc from the user or minimize the ability to write. How about we use logic that uses my ID, who only has edit access to update data when user uses the app but user has view access?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi @mikkis,

    Currently this is not possible.

Please review the following page for sharing App resources:

    Share App resources in PowerApps

Share Excel data used in your App

We could configure the User level permission by using the User() function, but for the data source side, it would need the Edit permission for PowerApps to work with it.

For Excel file, currently it is only available to apply Worksheet Level permission to it, so it is not possible to configure the Role level through the data source side:

    Excel protection

Here is the workaorund that you may take a try:

Switch to another data source which supports Row level security, such as SQL Server,

Re-configure the Excel data structure and make sure only restricted users have the write permission.

Or you may rise this as an idea, to suggest PowerApps to implement new features regarding the requirements

    Regards,
