Employee Check-In and Check-Out

Hello,

I looked at a few examples of the Check-in and check-out apps on here, but none of them seems to help what I am creating in power apps. If I can get some help with this, that would be appreciated.

I have 3 Sharepoint lists:

1) Office_locations - stores the Office name/location

2) Employees_list -  which includes Fname, Lname, and EmpNum

3) "CheckInAndCheckOut" - This list will be where the data is stored. It has names, Activity (check-in or Check-out), DateTime, and Office Locations

Basically, the staff types or scans (there will be a bar code scanner next to the iPad with this app running) their Employee ID and then either click "Check in" or "Check Out"

In the "CheckInAndCheckOut" list, I made the "EmpNum" field a lookup.

The Dropdown is for the office location, and that seems to work fine as I connected it to the Office_Location list.

The Employee ID field is a Form - connected to the Employee_List. When I run the app, it seems to work fine as I can search the Employee Num.

I'm having issues with the "Check In" button. How do I get the Fname, Lname, EmpNum, Activity, DateTime inserted to the "CheckInAndCheckOut" list?

and it would be great if I can somehow make a pop-up window saying "Thanks for checking in #Fname" for 2 seconds.

Thank you!

    @malikye

You don't!  That is a lookup field.  Those columns come from that list.  You cannot put the values in yourself.

Once you set that column with the Id and Value of the lookup item, all the other information will appear in the list from the looked up list.

I hope this is helpful for you.

    Hi Randy,

so I made the Employee ID a combo box - using the Employee_List -> EmpNum as the data source, and that seems to be better. I have a yellow triangle in Edit, but when I run the app, the combo box seems to work fine.

Can you help with the "Check In" button. How do I get the Fname, Lname, EmpNum, Activity, DateTime inserted to the "CheckInAndCheckOut" list? Thanks for your quick response.
