Canvas App Export/Import Doesn't Contain Unpublished Changes?

Hello,

I inadvertently made code changes to our production app instead of our Dev app.  No problem I thought, I'll export the production app with the unpublished code changes and complete them in Dev.  I imported the export into our Dev environment only to discover that my unpublished changes didn't appear.

Is this the intended behavior? Anyone else run into this? Is there a way to get the code out without having to publish?

Thanks for any insights!

That is the expected behavior.  Export/Import is a way of sharing an app with other users in a different environment/tenant.  Since Sharing only updates when changes are published it makes sense that Export/Import would only include published changes.

Even for the production app you should be able to just publish the changes, export the app, then restore a previous version.  That way you can get the changes and still maintain the pre-change version.

Thank you for the information!  Unfortunately I'm concerned that if I publish/revert someone may take the update and attempt to use the app before I've completed the reversal process.  My code changes are incomplete and they would introduce breaking changes in the app and I wouldn't want to impact anyone in this way.

I understand.  That leaves two options.

    1) Make the switch during off hours when no one will be using the production system.  That way you can Publish the changes and revert them before anyone pulls the changes to be used.

    2) The only other option would be to re-do the changes in your dev system from scratch.
