Minimum security role for viewing a custom Dataverse table

Hello there!

Do you have any idea what the minimum security role is that I need to assign to a user for them to access a custom-created table in Dataverse? I attempted to assign the Basic User role and a custom security role with organizational permissions at all levels, but I can't see any tables from Dataverse at all. It works when I assign the Environment Maker role, but I'm curious if there is a lower role or a custom one that I can create to only view that specific custom table in Dataverse.

Tested it right now and it works from Power BI Desktop with my custom security role. The thing is that he needed access from the portal as well but I got your point.

So, to sum it up, to access the tables directly from the power apps portal you need at least Environment Maker, but to access the table from a canvas app / model-driven app / Power BI report it's only needed a custom security role for the specific tables.

    Thanks, @AlbertoCastro for clarifying.

@AlbertoCastro, in fact, I need to give permission to a 'developer' user for creating a Power BI report and he requires access to the Dataverse table. So the final user who will consume the data will only have access to the report, but for developing I kinda want to give access to the table directly from the portal.

Ok, basic user or app oppener roles enable use tables from a power app. Roles like Environment maker or system customzer works because they have privileges to use the portal.

The portal typically is not use to consume data, only to develope. To consume data you could create a modeldriven simple with the table.

Thanks for taking your time, guys!

@gulshankhurana, the user is indeed licensed, but I don't see how this could affect my case because if he hasn't had a license I think he shouldn't see the tables even when I gave him the Environment Maker role, but he do.

@AlbertoCastro, directly from make.powerapps.com. As error I receive only this:

I've tried to give him App Opener, Basic User and the custom security role that I created for my custom tables, but it doesn't work. I think it should be the same as copying the App Opener role and modify it afterwards, but for testing purposes I did it like that.

    Other ideas?

Re: Minimum security role for viewing a custom Dataverse table

Do you have any error or message related or simply you can't see the table?

How do you access to the table, from a power app or make.powerapps.com?

To grant access to a dataverse table with the minimum privileges you should copy the security role App Opener and custom the copy grant the privileges necessary in your table.
After to this, you need add the user to security group of the environment (if it's configured) and asign the new custom role created.

    Hi @TeodorR

Please check if the user in question is licensed.

    Kind regards
