PCF Dataset Control in Canvas: Expected Record Value

Recently when opened up the Canvas Editor for an App which contains a PCF Dataset control I created i started getting the following error on the Dataset property of my control, "Expected Record value"

After looking at the versioning information it appears that there is some sort of breaking change between PowerApps release 3.20051.16 and 3.20053.24 that is possibly causing this.

I was able to get it all working again in a 3.20053.24 app by completing the following steps.

  • Open the existing app in the editor.
  • Copy the properties you have in the component
  • Remove the Calendar component from the App.
  • Save and Publish the App.
  • Re-open the App in the Editor and re-import the component
  • Re-add the Calendar component to the form and paste back in your parameters.

Anyone else seen this issue?

I think this may have been the PG fixing the PowerApps caching issue that was forcing us to delete and recreate a canvas app every time the embedded PCF was updated.

I saw similar behavior a few days ago, then @HemantG confirmed they just recently patched this bug.  No guarantees, but seems pretty likely to me.  Speaking for myself, I only ever saw the issue the once and never again since.
