Hi everyone,
I'm currently experiencing an issue with a custom agent deployed in Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. The agent uses an Adaptive Card as part of its response, but the card is not rendered correctly on the first load after the initial installation.
Here's what's happening:
Additionally, there's a consistent spacing issue when rendering Adaptive Cards — even with the default Microsoft examples. Every time a card is rendered, there's excessive vertical space, and the user has to scroll down to see the card content.
Both issues significantly impact user experience, especially for first-time users.
Has anyone else encountered this or found a workaround? Could this be related to caching or a known rendering bug?
Thanks in advance for your help!
Hi @Michael E. Gernaey
Thanks for your quick reply!
I've attached two screenshots that demonstrate the spacing issue. This behavior only occurs when an Adaptive Card is rendered. If we disable the "Ask with Adaptive Card" topic feature, the issue no longer appears.
We are using Adaptive Card version 1.5, but we have also tested with versions 1.3 and 1.4 to rule out compatibility problems. To ensure the card itself wasn't the problem, we even used a sample card from the Adaptive Card Gallery containing just two input fields and a submit button — and the issue persisted.
Interestingly, the problem does not occur in the Copilot Studio Test Canvas. However, we are currently unable to test in Microsoft Teams, so our users are working with the web version of M365 Chat, where the issue consistently appears.
Let me know if you need any further details!
Best regards
Hi Michael E. Gernaey Thanks for your reply! I’ve already tried testing in another browser (Chrome in Incognito) and even created a completely new agent with only dummy data, which simply outputs a message and the adaptive card. The same issue occurs there as well, so I don’t think it’s an async issue — that was my initial assumption too. It’s really strange and, to be honest, makes it pretty much unusable for rollout at the moment. I’m surprised you’re not able to reproduce this behavior on your end. Best!
