When I click on the Get data button I get this message:

"Your Azure Active Directory administrator has set a policy that prevents you from using this feature. Please contact your administrator, who can grant permissions for this feature on your behalf. For more information, please visit https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=854088."

WUWT?

Would you please share a screenshot for the Get Data button you mentioned, within the App created by PowerApps, or through the PowerApps Portal?

The error message is related to AAD usage, which might be casued by the tenant restriction.

    For PowerApps in organization, check:

    Administration of PowerApps

    Regards,

    Michael

Hello, I uploaded the screen shots. More detail, which may or may not be relevant...

I am basically looking into the feasability of using PowerApps in my company. We don't have any kind of shared online accounts within the company (e.g. Share Point etc.). I registered with PowerApps with my company emal address, I am access data through my personal One Drive account. In PowerApps, I created a new Environment using the CDS. When I try to get data through the Entities screen, I see this:.

However, if I change the environment back to my work email address, I see this:

    OK.

    Thanks for the update.

Please take a note of the following:

    1. Environments

Environments should be considered as the resource boundary, which is used to organize resources and better permission arrangement.

    2. Get Data,

Get Data allows you to get data from different data sources, it would need you switching to an environment in which you can create entities.

    Regards,

    Michael

Hello @wpryan - sorry to hear you're having problems. The AAD error you're receiving can be resolved by following these steps, it requires a tenant admin to assist - (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/common-data-service/data-platform-cds-newentity-troubleshooting-mashup)

We are working on changes on our end to make this step not necessary, but making this change should unblock you.

Please let us know how you go.

    Thanks,

    Clay.

Hi CWesener, thanks for your reply. At the risk of showing my ignorance, I am a complete newbie to PowerApps, CDS, Sharepoint - basically all Cloud based things like this. I can do some programming with VBA, a little with MS Access, even less with SQL.So when you tell me I have to get tenant admin to do something for me, I don't know who or what that is. I presume someone in my organization. But as I said in an earlier response, I am basically doing a feasability study of PowerApps to see if it can be useful to my department, before I start to make requests of other departments to basically change our IT infrastructure and business practices.

Could you explain it as if you would be to a child? Use some crayons maybe? Just joking here, but I guess I need to know the basics before I can even start to make any progress with this. Can you point me in a direction that can give me the background to be able to get started?

Hi @wpryan - sorry I wasn't clear, yes - you're going to need a tenant admin (for your entire Office 365 tenant) to do this for you. I'm not away of other options - but I'm adding @millopis from the Data Integration team that may be able to give you some other options.

    Thanks,

    Clay.

Unfortunately there aren't currently any other options besides what's described in the troubleshooting article. As Clay mentioned, we're looking into ways to makes this easier in the future.

Thanks for your replies. Here's the rub... I don't have an Office 365 Business account. I have a personal account. My company does not have an Office 365 account either. Does this mean that I cannot use PowerApps until we open an Office 365 account? Where do I go from here?
