Can't edit CDS entities anymore

i'm watching this video, and struck by features in CDS i did not know were there.Understand entities in the Common Data Service.

sure enough, when i went to PowerApps to fiddle with my entities like the video, not only was my UI spartan by comparison, i couldn't even do elementary edits like making a field the Title field or editing the Unique and Required property.

what has happened in the month i've been away from CDS (which was before GA)?

    Environments have happened.

Chances are that the default environment that you are using now, after migration from preview, has security set up to not allow you to administer or make anything.

So, in the top right-hand corner it should show your current environment. Click on settings > Admin center and a list of available environments should be listed. Click on 'Environment Admin/Maker' and set appropriate AD groups / accounts.

Here's what my Environment Maker page looks like:

    EnvironMaker.png

if this looks correct, then there must be something else i need to do, because here's what i see in the CDS edit page, subsequently:

    Hi Mcorning,

When was your environment created? If the name of the Environment that you are currently working on is in the following format:

“{Your name}’s environment”. Then it will not provide any of the new GA functionality (like picklists or translation sets), however, apps, flows and entities will remain functional as before. And entities in old environments won't show up the Field Properties Pane (like Unique, Required or searchable) under the Entity editing page.

There are some changes mentioned in the blog below:

Introducing the new entities in the Common data model

Please also take a look at the following blog:

    Migration from Public Preview

Here I would suggest to create a new Environment from scratch, then follow the Video.

New Environment could be created under Admin Center, top-right of the Environment pane.

If you need any further assistance on this, please feel free to post back.

    Regards

One thing the docs don't suggest is, "Change the default file name to the original name of your app."

If one forgets to do this, with the current version of PowerApps (2.0.542), changing the app's name does not change the app's name when listed in the Open window. You have to go back to the folder where you saved the app and change the name there.

Also, even if the app is stored on the cloud, the Open window lists the folder you saved as earlier. This is confusion because when the app loads, it takes longer than when loading locally, so users are getting mixed signals from Power Apps Studio.

now i turn to migrating CDS (finally <g/>).
