Need Help: Managed Solution Import Error (8004801E) in Production Environment

Hi Experts,

I’m reaching out for help with an issue I’ve been facing when importing a managed solution into my production environment (note: it's a different tenant). I usually deploy via an Azure DevOps pipeline, and until now, I’ve had no issues deploying to this target tenant.

Recently, I made significant changes to the solution and ensured that all dependencies—including apps, tables, flows, environment variables, and connection references—were properly included. However, during import, I consistently encounter the following error:

Error Code: 8004801E
Message: Import failed: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I’ve been stuck on this for over a week, digging through documentation, forums, and articles, but haven’t found a resolution yet. If anyone has encountered this error before or has insights into what might be causing it, I’d greatly appreciate your advice.

Thanks in advance for your time and support!!

    Hello,

I have no personal experience with this error code, but after searching online some of the causes can be:

Missing or wrongly configured Environment Variables.

Connection doesnt exist in target environment

    A Flow or App might reference a non-existent value/resource.

What you could try is importing the solution manually via zip-file to see if you get a better error code from that.

If my response solved your issue, please mark it as ✅ Accepted Answer and give it a like.

Power Apps Managed Solution Import Error 8004801E

    Cause:

This error (“Object reference not set to an instance of an object”) usually occurs when the solution references components (tables, flows, apps, environment variables, or connection references) that are missing or misconfigured in the target environment.

    Steps to Resolve:

Check Dependencies: Ensure all referenced components exist in the target environment.
Verify Environment Variables & Connection References: Make sure they are properly configured.
Manual Import: Try importing the solution via the Power Apps portal to get detailed errors.
Review Solution Import Logs: Download and examine logs for missing or problematic components.
Contact Microsoft Support if the issue persists.

Check Environment & Solution History: Go to Settings → Solutions → Solution History to see the exact reason for import failures.
Recreate Missing Components: If needed, recreate them in the target environment.

From your screenshot you have to go to Power Platform Admin Center → select your production environmentSolutions → search each dependency by Name and check the Version is equal or higher than required. If missing or outdated, install/upgrade it from AppSource; if not available there, check Dynamics 365 Apps upgrades in the Admin Center; otherwise, open a ticket with Microsoft Support.
