I am getting the following error while trying to push the component into my environment after it has been rebuilt:
Error: Unable to cast object of type 'System.String' to type 'System.Byte[]'.

First steps, first - if you run npm run build what do you see.
It's a silly thing to suggest but the push command does return build errors..

In my case it started after I added some images to my component. Since then, was only possible to upload it after I deleted the component from the solution (after removing it from the form).
Hoping the update for PowerApps CLI will come soon.
@DianaBirkelbach If you are right a adding --force or -f will fix it.
so just enter -f at the end of your pac pcf push -pp prefix -f command.
