Re-Prompt option on Questions in CoPilot Studio

Hello,

I am trying to add text to the Re-prompt option on questions, when the user enters an invalid answer. For example, if the question asks for an email and the user enters an invalid email, I want to customize the re-prompt question. This was working fine. Until I added a flow to my Topic. And now, instead of using the prompts in the Reprompt section, CoPilot Studio seems to just keep repeating the original question. Can anyone guide me as to what's going on here?

Here are some suggestions which you can think of.

When you integrate a flow into a topic, Copilot may be waiting for the flow to complete its operations before responding or handling re-prompts. This could override or skip the custom validation or re-prompt messages. Ensure that the flow or any external steps are not interfering with the re-prompt logic.

Also if your flow is triggered before the input is validated (such as email), Copilot might not wait for the user's correct input, leading to the issue you're seeing where the original question is asked again.

Sometimes, if a flow takes too long or encounters an error, Copilot might revert to its default behavior (asking the original question).

Hi Vinoth,

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

My flow is way at the end of the whole process. The questions are at the start of the flow. I'm wanting to ask the user for several types of inputs, validate these, do some processing and then call the flow to send an email. So the flow shouldn't actually be interfering with the validation right? It is called right at the end

Hi Chandini ,

I understand. Which means the issue is only on the Question node that is configured.

Wanted to check how the Email validation is being performed ? How do you check if the email is invalid for retry?

As far as i know, we do not have much control on how Copilot picks the retry prompt.

Hi Vinoth,

So I'm just using the Email entity here. Which means that CoPilot is doing the validation for me, to ensure it is a valid email. For the other variables, I'm using simple validations with RegEx.

The thing is I can see it is failing validation. And then it just keep repeating the original question over and over (the default behaviour, if you didn't have anything specified for the re-try prompt).

So not sure why and what else is needed to get it to use the text in the re-try prompt options.
